Local author Morven-May MacCallum has been announced as the Highland Liberal Democrat nominee for the Black Isle ward at the upcoming Highland Council elections.
Ms MacCallum (28), is well known for her work raising awareness of Lyme disease. In 2018 she published a debut novel, Finding Joy, based on her 17-year battle with the disease.
The Fortrose-educated candidate is standing to succeed retiring Liberal Democrat councillor Gordon Adam, current chair of the Black Isle area committee.
She will contest the ward for the Liberal Democrats on May 5.
Ms MacCallum said:“The Black Isle has been my home for nearly three decades. I am delighted to have the opportunity to give back to such a special community, and I hope people here will consider lending me their support to enable me to do so.”
Councillor Gordon Adam added: “Morven-May will make a first-class councillor for the Black Isle and bring a fresh approach to tackling local issues. From empowering community groups to pushing for crucial road safety measures and boosting active travel, she is exactly what this area needs.
“It has been a true privilege to serve the Black Isle on the Highland Council over the past five years, and I am eternally grateful for the kind support I have received. I hope people will now join me in supporting Morven-May MacCallum to represent our community.”
