PICTURES: 'Phenomenal' response from Dingwall shoppers to Tesco-led community larder winter food drive

A ROSS-SHIRE community has rallied to a local initiative aiming to help people tackle the cost of living crisis through winter.

Tesco Dingwall's winter food collection drive ran between Thursday, November 30 and Saturday, December 2.

Volunteers from Dingwall Community Fridge were invited to come in store to collect long life foods donated by the store's customers.

Tesco community champion Michelle Mackay said: "We had a phenomenal response and collected 132 boxes filled to the brim of essential long life foods and £231 in cash donations. All food and cash is going to Dingwall Community Fridge in the hope it keeps them going through the winter."

A number of local politicians also visited to find out more about the cause.

Tesco works with Fare Share to help redistribute food from our stores all over the UK.
