Ross-shire lord lieutenants past and present take shifts at Dingwall Tesco to raise £5K for Poppyscotland

GENEROUS shoppers visiting a Ross-shire supermarket chipped in more than £5000 for Poppyscotland in the run-up to remembrance weekend.

The remarkable total even topped last year's effort at the Dingwall Tesco during a real team effort which saw Lord Lieutenants of Ross-shire past and present pitch in.

The store's community champion Michelle Mackay said: "Starting on Monday, October 30 we welcomed volunteers from Dingwall to collect for Poppyscotland at the front of store.

"On week one, the guys raised £2268.13 and on week 2 they raised £2,887.35. The overall total collected was £5155.48, surpassing last year's in store total by £125.21.

"Thank you must go to all our loyal customers and colleagues who donated to such an important cause again this year. Pat Macleod, wished to also thank all local businesses who took tins and poppies for them."
