SCHOOLS serving a Wester Ross community are being affected for a second day by the weather with partial closures flagged due to a lack of school transport.

Gairloch Primary and its associated nurseries, and Gairloch High School, are all affected.

Schools closed due to weather

All appear on Highland Council's closure list this morning. It states: "Partially closed - no school transport (bad weather)."

Gairloch High School posted: "We have been informed that there will be no school transport today due to bad road conditions.

"School is open to staff and pupils. Please only attend school if you feel it is safe to do so."

It comes against the backdrop of a Met Office weather warning for snow and ice, now extended to noon on Sunday.

The weather took its toll yesterday with a delivery van leaving the road on the A835 between Garve and Ullapool and a number of routes affected by ice.

Temperatures are expected to hover around freezing for much of the day.
