A DRAMATIC repeat of flooding close to an iconic Ross-shire landmark has again prompted calls for prevention measures to be ramped up.
Several areas of Ross-shire witnessed severe flooding today amidst a Met Office weather warning for heavy rainfall.
Strathpeffer was amongst the areas affected with what was described by one observer as a "a river" running through the village for periods of time.
An area of land close to Castle Leod was again affected as the River Peffery flooded, with torrents of water crossing the main road and streaming towards the games field. It was a repeat of a similar scenario back in October last year

Clan chief John Mackenzie, the Fifth Earl of Cromartie, said then "radical solutions" will increasingly need to be considered as climate change takes hold resulting in a greater frequency of what might now be considered extreme weather events.
He said today: "Once again we have had flooding across the main road and the games fields at Castle Leod. Much the same as last time, I’m afraid."
He has flagged the situation with local MSPs Maree Todd and Kate Forbes with the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) asked to intervene.
He added: "Once again a car got stuck on the road (too fast so water in the engine) and like last time, Gate Lodge escaped by a few centimetres from being flooded. This is a terrible trial for our tenants who love their house."
He said Highland Council has previously said it doesn't have the resource to replace the "undersized culvert" under the main road.
He said: "We need to take this river more seriously and to start implementing some of the schemes that might help prevent the largely preventable."
SEPA and Highland Council have been contacted for comment.
