Evanton Community Wood has received a funding boost towards a new composting toilet through the Co-operative Community Fund.

Linda Ross, Evanton Coop team leader handed a cheque of £3,394 to Penny Gray, treasurer of the community wood.

The current composting toilet by the log cabin has been in operation for six years and has been of particular value during Covid restrictions.

Now the wood group are planning a second toilet to be installed by the octagonal shelter, which was completed in 2019, and which will encourage people to venture further into the wood.

The wood secretary Adrian Clark said: "We know that it will be particularly appreciated by the nursery and primary school groups, including the home school group, also by older people including our own Friday sessions for people living with dementia. It will also be used when we host music and other events at the new shelter as soon as we are given the green light to do so."
