AROUND 100 guests helped to create a buzzing atmosphere at a special treat for senior citizens in a Ross-shire town.

Dingwall Fire Brigade Community Group held its annual senior citizens party on Friday, March 1 in the town's Legion Club.

And for a few late call-offs from people not able to attend, there was even a delivery service, according to one of the organisers, Andrew Macivor.

Mr Macivor said: "It was a lovely night last night for our annual senior citizens party.

"Everyone looked like they had fun. I'd like to thank everyone for coming. Thank you to Batty's for the lovely food, the Legion for their hospitality and service, Michelle MacKay Tesco community champion, the local businesses for their donations to the raffle, Michelle and Aileen Wilson dancers and Katie Ferguson for keeping us all entertained.

"I'd also like to thank all our members – past and present – who helped out last night. Without them giving up their time and effort, events like this would not be possible from all the fundraising to collecting raffle prizes to running the night itself."

Donald Armstrong was thanked by Andrew Macivor and Ross-shire Lord Lieutenant Joanie Whiteford for his stint as treasurer of the Dingwall Fire Brigade Club. He was presented with a bottle of 15 year Dalmore whisky and an inscribed quaich. Picture courtesy of Dingwall Fire Brigade and Community Group.

Some took to social media to voice thanks for the event. Irene Burt wrote: "Lovely Evening of good company, food and drinks, with music singing and dancing. So well organised and everyone I spoke with said the same.

Well done to all the volunteers who looked after each and every one of us."

Margie Maclennan posted: "It was a lovely night, food was lovely and great craic. Thank you all for your hard work to make this night a great success!"
