Dingwall seniors' 'late Christmas' party proves a hit in county town as thoughts now turn to summer gala day

GREAT company, good craic, fine entertainment and a big dollop of community spirit proved to be the perfect ingredients for a senior citizens’ party.

The National Hotel hosted the event which had been organised by Dingwall Fire Brigade and Community Group.

MacNeil Coaches and Don’s Taxis assisted with transportation to and from the event which also featured Highland dancers and singing from Katie Ferguson.

Effectively a late Christmas treat in the winter months when there is less on, it is timed to give local seniors something to look forward to after the festive season.

Vice-chairman of the club, Andrew MacIvor, said: “It was three years since the last one because of coronavirus so we weren’t sure how it would go. It went really well and we have already booked the National Hotel for next year.”

There was good feedback on social media. Oriole Hall posted: “Lovely to see lots of familiar faces having a great time. Fantastic job, Fire Brigade group.” Heather Henderson stated: “Thank you to everyone involved in organising this and putting it all on.”

* Dingwall Fire Brigade Community Group are planning a Gala Day on Saturday, July 8based around the town's Cromartie car park. It is looking for help on the run-up to the day and the day of the event itself.
