As we're facing a very different festive season this year, we decided to take a look back at seasonal pictures and stories from years gone by way of a countdown to Christmas.

We'll be sharing something every day so keep an eye open for faces you may know. Who knows? You may even spot yourself in one of the pictures we publish.

Day 5 - Christmas lights switch on in Tain 2018

THE festive countdown was started in style in Tain when a lights switch-on was combined with a Christmas market and entertainment.

More than 30 stalls were set up within the Rose Garden and across the High Street with Mary Watt’s Highland dancers, Inverness Brass Band and young singers and musicians adding to the occasion. Youngsters in particular were delighted to see an appearance from Santa and his reindeer.

Tain Gala Association, Tain Community Council and the Tain and District Development Trust (TDDT) joined forces.
