Muir of Ord Bowling Club has lifted the curtain on its new season.

Club president, William Stewart, welcomed 34 of the club’s members and wished them all a successful season as member Helena Macleod delivered the first jack.

The day also served as an opportunity for the club to unveil their new club tops and tracksuit jackets, purchased thanks to funding from the Co-operative community fund.

Secretary Heather Stewart said: “We are delighted and very grateful for our new tops and jackets, which were funded by the Co-op community fund. We had a few ends of bowls and then a lovely afternoon tea and chat.

“We are looking forward to a good season. We are picking up quite nicely after Covid, with one or two new members already this year.”

The club’s first open competition is due to take place on June 1. The club expects to have anything between 28 and 32 teams taking part in the all day triples competition, which will be open to clubs in the local area as far as Dornoch, all the way down to Inverness.
