ROSS-SHIRE sisters–in–law completed a 100-mile bike ride in 48 hours to raise money for the Scottish Cot Death Trust in memory of their "darling little boy" who passed away at only eight months old.

Sinead Stoltman and Nikki Stoltman decided to take on the challenge as novice cyclists to help support other families going through the unbearable loss of a baby to cot death.

Sinead was spurred by the plight of her sister, Sandie Tulloch, who lost her son, Maximus, to cot death and has since helped to raise awareness of the charity.

Sinead said she could not have completed the gruelling weekend challenge without her sister–in–law. Saying that she had survived the bike ride "just", she paid tribute to everyone who chipped in, adding: "Really never would have done this without Nikki. I'm buzzing and emotional.

"I can’t believe we did it. There were some tears, tantrums, loads of laughs and fun. Thank you to everyone who cheered us on, and stopped with water and snacks and donation. Thank you to all the donations made. We raised a massive £1135, which takes our fundraising altogether to £6135 for the Scottish Cot Death Trust - an amazing charity close to my heart."

Mrs Stotlman thanked those people who had helped her along the way. She said: "Huge thank you and well done to Trish who joined us at the beginning for 10 miles and letting me borrow a bike, as mine gave in, and to my sister, Sandie Tulloch, who joined us for our last 10 miles. And also to Kushi Stoltman who joined for our last few miles on a bike with a flat tyre."

Ms Tulloch, who lost Maximus in January, said: "These two beautiful girls have taken on such a gruelling challenge and have absolutely smashed it. They have pushed their bodies to the limit, all in memory of my darling little boy. You have helped keep his memory alive and that means more to me than anything in this world."
