Alness Parkrun is a Saturday morning staple for many but is cancelled today.

AN Easter Ross parkrun has pulled the plug on today's scheduled event due to the weather forecast.

Parkruns are regular weekly 5km timed runs, typically staged around the country on Saturdays at 9.30am.

Alness Parkrun is amongst hundreds across the country.

It celebrated its sixth birthday in August last year and is well known for its fun, convivial atmosphere and the occasional fancy dress outing.

The plug was pulled on today's scheduled event yesterday as a precaution.

Putting a positive spin on it they flagged the possibility of an unexpected lie in or a trip to join the alternative parkrun at Torvean in Inverness. Organisers if that event confirmed yesterday it is good to go for 9.30am.
