OUR dedicated photographer enjoyed Alness Parkrun's 200th outing so much that he took lots more shots than we could contain in just one report.

There was nothing for it but to put together another package of images!

Alness Parkrun celebrated its 200th outing in style earlier this month with 152 participants and 20 all-important volunteers turning up at the start line at the town’s Crawl Park.

The timed 5km event takes place every Saturday at 9.30am, one of hundreds across the country.

The Traitors theme was a nod to the reality TV show filmed at nearby Ardross Castle and amongst rthe volunteers were some familiar-looking figures.

Was that really Claudia Winkleman wrangling runners to the starting line?

And could it be that there were not one but two stylishly attired Alan Cummings marshalling the course and keeping everything running just so...?

Adele Phemister and Aileen Stuart spoke to us a bit about what the parkrun is and what participants – and volunteers – get out of it.

Adele said: "We've got volunteers who come every single week and they are wonderful – absolutely invaluable. This whole thing is staffed by volunteers. It's a free event for anybody to just come along to but it would never happen if it wasn't for the volunteers."

They need 16 every week because of all the twists and turns in the course.

Aileen said: "I'm a keen runner. I don't run that often here – I think I have run Alness 11 times. I like that it goes well. I like to be here and see it goes fine. It's incredible to run it too – it's a whole different feeling."

There are lots of stories, she said, from participants and to make connections with those who come each week.

Adele added: "People get a lot out of voluteering as well. It's a wonderful way to start a Saturday morning – it really is."
