Foulis Castle Daffodil Day near Evanton set to benefit Mikeysline

Foulis Castle, home of Clan Munro, will hold its popular annual Daffodil Tea on Saturday, April 13 from 2pm.

Apart from the pandemic years, the event has been an unbroken tradition since it was started by Hector Munro’s grandmother Eva Gascoigne after the Second World War for charity benefit. It has gone from strength to strength, becoming a celebration of Highland culture.

She said: "It always seems to come together as a brilliantly happy, special family event attracting people from far and wide. The whole family is involved with the preparations and the day. This year’s charity is local mental health and suicide prevention charity Mikeysline and we are so pleased to be supporting them to raise crucial funds for their work with both adults and young people in Highland."

Emily Stokes, chief executive of Mikeysline, said: “We know what a wonderful day out this event is each year at Foulis Castle for people of all ages and we are so looking forward to both being at and raising crucial funds at this event. The line-up of entertainment and variety of stalls present is absolutely amazing. It’s certainly going to be an event not to miss.”

Sarah added: "Activities will include daffodil picking, a wide range of arts and crafts stalls, Claire Carson face painting, Highland Inflatables, the Wilson Highland Dancers, storytelling and lots of traditional music from local groups including, Blackrock Ceilidh, Fèis Rois and Cheyenne Brown’s harps.

The Arts and Crafts stalls will include Daoine pottery, the Crafty Granny, Lynn Wescott blown glass, Eilean Dubh photography, Macleod Organics, Seeds for Change, Highland Liliums and Fox and Friends and whiskey barrel furniture. There are 30 stalls in total. Mikeysline will also have a stall at the event.

Teas will be provided by the Drover’s Café and Maureen Cusack. Sarah added: "We are so lucky to have a host of local volunteers as well as those provided by our charity, Mikeysline.

"It is a privilege to be able share Foulis and its beautiful peaceful gardens and surroundings with the whole community."

Parking is available at the event and entry is £5 for adults, concessions (over 60 and 8-12 year olds) £3 and under 8s are free.
