THE grandchildren of a Ross-shire family with a long tradition of supporting charities will be picking up the reins at a special event next weekend.

The Foulis Castle annual Daffodil Tea is set to take place on Saturday, April 15 with this year’s event being organised by volunteers and supporters of The Archie Foundation (Highland).

The castle is the seat of the Clan Munro, and the Daffodil Tea is a well-loved family event featuring live music, face painting, Highland dancing, stalls, refreshments, story-telling, inflatables, children’s fun rides and more – all while visitors pick their own daffodils from the castle grounds.

A variety of stalls will be present including arts and crafts, jewellery, glass, pottery, Cromarty Cheese House, Strathpeffer Artisan Bread, Highland Liliums, Fresh Farm Produce, The Drover's Rest Cafe Bakes, Ceilidh Quilt Stories and more.

Visitors will be entertained by Fèis Ross musicians, Cheyenne Brown Harp Ensemble, James Ross/Robert Wallace Clarinet and Accordion Duo and Aline Wilson’s Highland Dancers.

A specially formed group, Singing For Archie, will also perform a selection of pop and rock favourites. This group is a combination of local singing groups Singing For Maggie’s and The Tornagrain Singers, who sing weekly to raise money for local charities.

Fiona Sellar, Archie supporter and organiser of the event said: “The family event has been running annually in the Highlands since the end of the Second World War. Started by the late Mrs Gascoigne, nee Munro, the tradition continues with the present day members of the Munro family. Each year, the Munro family invites a charity to organise the Daffodil Tea.

“We are excited to be involved with such a well-loved and long-running event as the Daffodil Tea, which, through the generosity and commitment of Foulis Castle, has been raising money for charities for decades. Their commitment to this event is inspiring and really quite unique in the Highlands.

“The Munro family grandchildren will be doing their bit to support other children in need by donating all their proceeds of their stall to The Archie Foundation.Their stall will be of particular interest to younger visitors and will include crafts, guess the number of Easter eggs and other children’s games.

“The Daffodil Tea is not only a great day out in itself, but a chance to see the stunning Foulis Castle up close as well as to support a fantastic and worthy charity.”

Entry will be by cash only: adults £8, concession £3 and under 8 years free.
