More than 1000 people flocked to Foulis Castle in Easter Ross on Saturday to help an aid effort for Ukraine.

The Munro family opened the doors to their home to host their popular annual Daffodil Tea fundraiser – with this year’s raising £7000.

Locals enjoyed storytelling, Highland dancers and music from Feis Rois, harpists and fiddlers while tucking into refreshments and freshly-baked cakes and, of course, picking daffodils.

There were also 32 stalls including Evanton Wood Company and Highland Lilliums, two bouncy castles and a small circus troupe.

This year the event was raising money for the British Red Cross’ DEC Ukraine Appeal.

British Red Cross representative Romay Williams said: “It was a most successful day, the sun shone on our event and it all contributed to a lovely happy atmosphere. The kindness of the Highlanders cannot be underestimated, once again they have come to support this marvellous event.

“All thanks must go to the generosity of the Munros of Foulis and their extended family in opening their doors for the benefit of the people of Ukraine. The DEC appeal sends financial donations directly to where it is needed and we know that the Ukrainian Red Cross is struggling to cope with the huge demands placed upon them for shelter, food, water and emotional support during this distressing time.”

Foulis Castle has hosted the Daffodil Teas since the end of World War II, when the late Mrs Gascoigne established the event.
