As the blanketing of snow that transformed much of Ross-shire into a veritable winter wonderland last week was blasted away by a swift procession of storms, there must have been many who were glad they did grab the chance to have fun while the going was good.

Easy come, easy go – that's how it goes with the snow sometimes.

The 'snow days' off school enjoyed by thousands last week will doubtless become precious memories in years to come.
