PUPILS at the fire-hit Park Primary are likely to return to school by Thursday - in alternative accommodation at Invergordon Academy.

Highland Council has confirmed that “plans are being put in place” for the youngsters to return to their lessons on Thursday.

Further details are expected to be revealed at a special parent information meeting in Invergordon tonight (Tuesday).

The news follows confirmation yesterday that Invergordon Academy will act as a temporary base for Park Primary’s pupils for the immediate future.

The Academy has a capacity of 550 pupils but only has 343 children on its rolls at present, providing the necessary space to accommodate Park’s 176 pupils and 32 nursery children.

The parent information meeting will be held at Invergordon Academy at 6pm.

Meanwhile, Invergordon Leisure Centre is running special events today and tomorrow to help provide activities for children affected by the fire.
