A 30-YEAR reunion of former Dingwall Academy pupils could become an annual affair.

The Class of ‘92 get-together at Maryburgh’s Cottage Bar also raised £1925 for St Clement’s special school, represented on the night by teacher Paul Oparka whose band entertained.

Organiser Trevor Innes, who lives in Culbokie, said he was “very emotional” on the big day but found that despite nervousness and excitement “it was as if we had never been apart”.

He spoke ahead of the get-together of the importance in changing times of keeping in touch with old friends.

He was full of praise for the Cottage Bar team who “made us feel so welcome”, and local businesses, family and friends who donated to the raffle.

He said a fellow villager whose son attends the school was a huge help with raffle sales and an open house tea and cake on her birthday to boost funds.

He said: “When everyone arrived, the atmosphere was buzzing, drinks flowing, laughter all night – it wasn’t long enough.

Trevor Innes (centre) handed over a cheque to Colin Masterson, the head teacher of St Clement's, and Paul Oparka, a teacher at the school who was also part of the reunion. Mr Innes said: "Paul, did a lot for me - it was his band playing at the reunion and also told us in a presentation all about St Clement's and how wonderful these kids are."

“The feedback I got was, that they want this now to be a yearly get-together and want me, mister organiser, to get organised!

“One of my close friends, Suzanne Wilson, left a comment on our reunion page saying: ‘We need a Trevor in our lives to keep us all linked together’.”
