Highland woman crowned Miss Scotland says winning has been 'overwhelming'

A Highland woman who has been crowned Miss Scotland, has said that winning has been 'overwhelming'.
Chelsie Allison (26) came first in the competition that saw her beat 10 other women throughout Scotland.
Speaking about the experience, she said: "No one ever expects to win, it’s only something you can wish for.
"I would never take it for granted - there were so many lovely girls, it could have been any one of us! I am so grateful for the amount of support I’ve received since winning!"
Miss Allison has said that the other girls she was up against were all very supportive, and were all with her when she found out she won.
She will now go to represent the nation at Miss World which takes place in India later this year, and will be doing lots of preparation beforehand, as she will be taking to the stage to perform traditional Scottish dance.
"There’s nothing more exciting than going to a country you’ve never been to before," said Ms Allison.
"I’m so excited to learn all about Indian culture, to see some of the amazing country and taste the food!"
"Preparation for Miss World means I have to be far more disciplined than I’ve ever been before! Fortunately, I’ve got a personal trainer and I know I’m going to put me through my paces to get me in tip top shape.
"I’m also going to have to dig out my old Highland dancing pumps as we open the Miss World show in traditional dance!"
Miss Allison has chosen Highland Hospice as her charity of choice for the competition, and she will be holding a fundraising event later this week in aid of it.
She added: "I’d like to thank all of the sponsors of the competition (Fitness Frontier, Get It Grl, Dr Kieren Bong and Ayrshire Magazine) for giving us girls amazing memories throughout the competition. Envy Gowns for helping me find the perfect dress.
"I'd also like to thank everyone who has taken the time to support me throughout my journey, whether it’s been through liking or sharing posts, sending kind words or donating to my chosen charity, the Highland Hospice."
