THE craic was fierce at a Wester Ross community hub this week with the arrival of a very special visitor sparking lots of laughter and shared memories.

Applecross Community Hall hosted a three-course lunch club where fun was on the menu alongside prawn cokctail, chicken with mushroom sauce and sherry trifle.

And no one could accuse new kitchen recruit King Charles III of being stiff as his "presence" triggered conversations aplenty on the theme of royal visits down the years as the coronation theme flavoured the day.

The hall posted: "Many thanks to the lunch club ladies Jayne, Jill, Barbara, Ishbel and Una serving. A bit of fun as they were joined by a new recruit volunteering in the kitchen, the coronation theme inspiring several conversations on royal visits in the past."

The weekly lunch club usually held at 1pm on a Wednesday welcomes any who are 60-plus. The hall said: "Just let the team know in advance if planning on attending so that numbers can be catered for."

It went on: "Our guest today didn't actually eat very much though looked relaxed and pleased to meet all, heading off afterwards to see round Applecross before a big weekend."
