ROAD crews in Ross-shire are reacting to changing weather conditions this morning with snow falling in a number of areas and icy patches to contend with.

A Met Office weather warning for snow is now in place until 6pm this evening with Storm Eunice also thrown into the mix.

Highland Council's morning road report for Ross and Cromarty says that all primary routes have a mixture of dry and damp conditions with icy patches.

Secondary and higher routes are much the same, "with a slight dusting of snow at highest points".

Treatment is ongoing.

For Wester Ross and Lochalsh, a relatively dry frosty morning was reported.

All routes are getting treated and no overnight issues were reported.

Maps of the Council’s gritting routes by priority and policy are available online at https://www.highland.gov.uk/gritting

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time, the council stresses.

It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free "and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling".

Elsewhere, Badenoch and Strathspey is affected by frost and snow on all roads with routes being treated as necessary.

In Caithness, all routes are affected by ice and frozen slush with patches of black ice on some roads too.

In Inverness, snow is forecasted to continue into afternoon.

In Lochaber, low road surface temperatures are reported with snow across the whole area from 6am. There is a covering of snow on high ground. All routes are being treated by priority.

In Nairn, ice was reported this morning with some snow patches and routes being treated as necessary.

On Skye and Raasay, precautionary treatment is ongoing on primary and secondary routes in advance of forecast snow this morning.

All routes reported as being clear with no issues.

Sutherland's primary route roads have a mixture of dry and damp conditions with icy patches.Higher routes have more icy stretches on them.
