A HARDY duo aiming to make a return John O'Groats to Land's End trip in just 12 days on bicycle to benefit lifeboat volunteers in Ross-shire are making solid progress and have today crossed the border.

Greg Drew and Norman Agnew decided to take on the epic challenge when the Strathpuffer fell through again because of Covid concerns.

The Strathpeffer event involves a 24-hour challenge in bone-chilling conditions along forest tracks.

The John O'Groats to Land's End – and back – is on another level.

They started out from the far north outpost first thing on Saturday, dropping in at the RNLI stations in Wick, Invergordon and North Kessock along the way before stopping near Aviemore after churning through around 170 miles for the day.

They plan crossing the border today en route to Preston.

They have cited the help given by Invergordon RNLI crew at previous Strathpeffer events as a motivator for their effort.

The Two Wheel Ordeal team posted: "Day 3. The boys are well on their way now and have passed over the border!

"Big thank you to the main sponsors Inverness Coffee Roasting Co, Culloden car sales, Bikes of Inverness, Ness Valley, Williamson Food & Drink and to all those who have liked, shared, donated and commented, the support has been fantastic so far!

"Let’s help Norman and Greg Drew reach their target for the RNLI!"
