CYCLISTS paid poignant tribute to a local legend in Invergordon yesterday as the late Ken Ross was laid to rest.

The proprietor of Ken Ross Cycles in Invergordon, he was very well known and respected in Highland cycling circles, hailed a local legend by many and dubbed by one as "an Olympian born in the wrong era".

He had family by his side when he passed away at the end of last month in Raigmore Hospital.

At his funeral yesterday, cycling star Kyle Gordon led the hearse on bis bike with others following to pay their respects as the cortege made its way to Rosskeen Cemetery in Easter Ross.

Donations in memory of Mr Ross were invited to be sent direct to the Spinal Unit of Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow.
