A man has died following a house fire in Dingwall, police have confirmed.
The 65-year-old, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at the scene following the fire, which broke out in a house in St Andrew's Road at 7.49am.
Three appliances from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) – two engines from Dingwall and one from Beauly – were sent to the scene and arrived at 7.55am.
Police also attended at around 8am.
A section of the road was later cordoned off by police tape, and firefighters and police officers could be seen in the street.
There was no immediate word on the extent of the fire, or its cause, but officers later announced that "enquiries" into what started it were "ongoing".
And, in a further update shortly before 4pm, a Police Scotland spokesperson added: “Around 8am on Thursday, officers received a report of a fire on St Andrew's Road, Dingwall. Emergency services attended and a 65-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene."
