"Enquiries are ongoing" into the cause of a house fire in Dingwall on Thursday morning, police have said.

Officers and fire crews were scrambled to a property in St Andrew's Road at 7.49am.

Three fire engines initially attended the incident – two from Dingwall and one from Beauly – but one later left the scene.

A section of the street was later cordoned off by police tape, and firefighters and police officers could be seen in the road.

The extent of the damage and nature of the fire were not known at the time of writing.

It is also unknown if anyone was injured.

Confirming that they are looking into what caused the fire, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8am on Thursday, officers received a report of a fire on St Andrew's Road, Dingwall.

“Enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing.”
