One lane of the A835 Ullapool-Dingwall trunk road has reopened near Garve following an earlier crash, Traffic Scotland has confirmed.

The road was initially shut in both directions in the wake of the crash, which occurred at around 1.45pm.

This meant drivers faced mammoth diversions via the west coast, Glen Shiel and the Great Glen, or up via Elphin, Bonar Bridge and the Struie road.

But, in an update shortly after 3pm, Traffic Scotland confirmed that a lane of the affected carriageway had reopened and police are managing traffic at the scene.

They added that motorists should plan ahead and expect delays.

Police have not provided details as to the number of type of vehicles involved in the crash, or if anyone was injured in the incident.
