SUPERMARKET shoppers in a Ross-shire town dug deep to help less fortunate folk in tough times.

The community champion at Dingwall Tesco, Michelle Mackay, said the retailer had launched a toy appeal in late November with its customers and decided to donate to three local charities/groups.

These included Home Start East Highland, The Archie Foundation unit in Raigmore Hospital and the Highland Council team in Dingwall looking after homeless people.

Michelle said: "We had a phenomenal response from both customers and colleague.

"We collected two full cages of toy donations for all ages.

"The generosity shown in these tough times has been outstanding. Each group has expressed their sincere thanks and gratitude for each and every donation. Thank you."

She separated it all into three full deep trolleys for each group before handing the donations over.
