Torvean Bridge is now open, Highland Council has said.
Guarantees were given to the community earlier this week that the Torvean Swing Bridge would be open this afternoon, August 12.
At 5.40pm a Highland Council spokeswoman said the bridge is now open.
She said: "We have just received confirmation that the Torvean bridge is now open to traffic."
Yesterday b evening, a Highland Council spokesman said: "The commissioning works have been completed and we swung the bridge a number of times already today.
"It is operating well in automatic mode which is important. Engineers are still at the scene with the designers and will be testing every scenario.
"Therefore it may need another five or six swings before the road can be opened.
"We are confident it will be open either at some point today or tomorrow."
The bridge, part of the multimillion-pound West Link project, is meant to ease congestion on the Caledonian Canal and busy A82 trunk road by operating in tandem with the older Tomnahurich Bridge – but has been largely closed since being apparently completed, and commissioned, in May.
The council previously confirmed there were a number of “snagging issues” to be dealt with but previously said these should be resolved by Thursday afternoon and the bridge “fully functional” from then.
