STORM or not the show went on for a Black Isle cinema today – despite a brief power cut and a spectacular display from Mother Nature.

Thunderstorms had been forecast by the Met Office with a weather warning in place from Sunday morning until midnight on Monday.

Some areas of the Highlands were hot by afternoon flash flooding during a torrential downpour.

A supermarket at Inshes in Inverness and the Vue Cinema in the city both experienced problems with water getting in.

Resolis and Cromarty Film Society later posted a spectacular lightning image on its social media pages.

It said: "All a bit wild down at the cinema this afternoon, but despite a short power cut we are back on and enjoying a cosy afternoon matinee."

Forthcoming attractions include Eiffel, My Old School, Top Gun Maverick and Fishermen's Friends: One and All.

Today's afternoon screening was the Buena Vista Social Club, a 1999 documentary film directed by Wim Wenders about the music of Cuba.
