Three Highland schools remain closed today as wintry weather conditions take their toll

THREE Highland schools are remaining closed today amid a Yellow Met Office snow warning issued for the Highlands.

The schools closed are:

  • Gairloch High School
  • Gairloch Primary School
  • Gairloch Primary Nursery
  • Gairloch Primary Nursery
  • Poolewe Primary School
  • Poolewe Primary Nursery
  • Rosebank Primary Nursery in Nairn

The closures mean a total of 107 secondary school students, 72 primary school pupils, and 59 nursery children, will have an extra day at home.

Meanwhile, due to dangerous road conditions, some students have been unable to travel into school. These include some Assynt students travelling to Ullapool High School this morning.

Earlier, a van left the road on the A835 between Garve and Ullapool.
