A COMMUNITY clean-up followed by a bite, blether and some fun proved a winning combination for residents of an Easter Ross town at the weekend.

It was a team effort by Mansfield Residents Association, CCAST Highland, The Hub and Highland Council with around 50 folk enjoying soup and toasties, a bounce on the castle and cage football.

A number of local children got involved in some weeding and litter-picking alongside older volunteers before the fun which was also followed by treats from North Coast Coffee.

A spokeswoman said later: "It was sunny and warm and nice to welcome all to the Mansfield Hub and show that the Mansfield is a nice and friendly place to be. Another great joint effort – a big thank you to all!"

Future plans include hosting a Santa’s grotto at the hub one evening in December.

The group also has a ‘hub grub’ community food larder available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays open to all and supported by Tain Coop.
