Bone-chilling start to the day triggers BEAR Scotland warning on A835 after readings taken at Aultguish and Braemore amid Met Office ice warning

SUB-ZERO temperatures on a trunk route running through Ross-shire has prompted a 'take care' from a transport agency this morning.

BEAR Scotland has the contract to manage and maintain the North-West Road Unit for Scottish Government agency, Transport Scotland.

This morning it posted: "Beware when out this morning as temperatures are chilly around the NW Network."

Readings taken shortly before 6am show a temperature of -4.4C at Braemore on the A835 and -5.2C on the same road at Aultguish.

A Met Office weather warning for ice is currently in place.
