AN Easter Ross secondary school is making moves to help pupils panning attending its Christmas dance but reluctant to splash out for a new dress.

Tain Royal Academy has come up with a scheme where a dress can be hired for a small deposit – which is handed back when the dress is returned.

It posted: "If you are looking for a dress for the Christmas dance but don’t want to splash out, then look no further!

"Pop to the Guidance department during any lunchtime and try on some of our dresses for hire to see what suits. You’ll be asked for a £1 deposit and upon return of your dress, you’ll get £1 back as long as it has been cleaned and in good condition."

The initiative has in turn sparked offers of more dresses being donated by well-wishers.

Mairi macaulay summed up the reaction of many when she posted: "This looks fabulous, what a great idea."

"Great idea! Well done TRA," wrote Carol Jane Wood on the school's social media page. "Love this", said Elaine Ross.
