A SPECIAL school in Ross-shire was closed at short notice following an incident earlier today.

St Clement's in Dingwall was closed after an oil tank on the premises was mistakenly overfilled, resulting in a spillage.

As a precaution, the school was closed after oil spilled first into the internal bund and then the external bunded area below the tank.

Engineers pumped out the excess and cleaned up the spillage.

The school has confirmed it will be able to open tomorrow (January 26).

Earlier this month, the school was forced to close due to a lack of heating and power.

A long-running campaign to replace premises widely regarded as unfit for purpose continues.

Highland Council has purchased land on the edge of town but to date a funding package for building the eagerly-sought new premises remains elusive.
