STAFF at one of the busiest medical groups in Ross-shire have paid tribute to the volunteers who helped a weekend Covid vaccine clinic run so smoothly in challenging conditions.

And Dingwall Medical Group has thanked registered patients for their patience as the rollout continues following the Scottish Government guidelines on priority groups.

It posted: "We want to thank the Red Cross volunteers who were a great help at last Saturday’s Covid vaccine clinic. They did a fantastic job keeping the cars moving and patients safe in the icy conditions.

"We have now offered a vaccine to almost all our over 70s and our shielding patients (those advised to shield by the Scottish Government). If you think you are in one of these groups and have not heard from us please get in touch with us directly on 01349 863034 and let the staff know why you are phoning. This includes temporary residents staying in our practice area."

Updating patients, it added: "Each week as a new delivery of vaccines arrives we plan our clinics for the next group that are due to be vaccinated according to the JCVI list. We hope to have all our patients vaccinated by the Scottish Government deadlines."

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advises UK health departments on immunisation.

The group added: "Thank you to all our patients for their understanding and to our amazing staff who are working very hard at the clinics on top of their normal duties."

The effort was appreciated by a number of members of the public.

One posted: "Excellent organisation on Saturday, was very speedy and efficient. Thank you."

Another said: "Well done to everyone involved in vaccine delivery at Dingwall Medical Group, you’re all doing a fantastic job in very difficult circumstances."

Another stated: "Thank you to everyone who organised my visit on Saturday to get my jab. It was very well organised and everyone was very helpful. Well done."
