LIBRARIES across Ross-shire will welcome the return of events for a globally recognised book event next week.

High Life Highland (HLH) will celebrate World Book Day as libraries host events across Ross-shire

For the 25th anniversary of the literary celebration on March 3, HLH libraries will hold Bookbug sessions, host competitions, fancy dress, book sales, displays and people can swap book tokens for special books.

Principal libraries manager for High Life Highland Julie Corcoran said: “We’re delighted to be able to celebrate World Book Day in our libraries again this year and there will be lots to get involved in for young and old.

“World Book Day aims to promote reading for pleasure and our libraries play a unique role in changing lives through a love of books and shared reading.

“Getting young people interested in reading is vitally important and provides skills that will have an impact on a child's future so do come and visit us and see what we have to offer.”

Dingwall Library has a full schedule of events, including children's crafts, story sharing, a treasure hunt, a special display with colouring pictures, bookmarks and quizzes and a nursery visit.

Invergordon library will host a Where's Wally competition and give away vouchers.

Many more Ross-shire locations are taking part, including Muir of Ord, Tain, Ullapool, Cromarty and Alness.

There are 40 libraries run by HLH, as well as eight mobile libraries.

They are free to join and give people access to books, magazines, newspapers, computers and online copies.

School libraries are also taking part in the fun.
