A HISTORIC Ross-shire village hotel that fell into ruin under previous owners has celebrated its first birthday since re-opening after ambitious investment.
The Conon Hotel in Conon Bridge was reborn under new owners David Whiteford (36) and partner Joseph (35) who bought the 1780-built premises in September 2020.

They spent 21 months re-imagining and restoring the dilapidated structure to create a family hotel and gastro-pub aimed at locals and visitors alike.
A year on, The Conon was the setting for a family fun day to mark the occasion on Saturday, the day after the official anniversary on May 19.
The event from noon to 4pm drew in plenty of locals and families, with the firm Mascot Madness supplying a large inflatable and sumo wrestling suits.
"I was so happy and proud to be able to bring this event to the community celebrating one year in business at the Conon Hotel,” Mr Whiteford, whose parents own Navity Farm in Cromarty, said.
“We're so grateful for the whole Highland area's support and we hope to continue to support the community and help create great memories for many years to come."
Despite some rains spells during the afternoon, the event's attractions went down a storm and a special barbecue sold out.
