Organisers of a popular event to support bereaved children and their families have announced a new date for their first-ever partnership with a local football club.

The fun day for children was due to take place last year at Ross County, however the event had to be rescheduled and will now take pace on February 24.

Children who lost a loved one and their families will be welcome for free at Ross County’s home in Victoria Park ahead of the Livingston game.

From 12pm to 3pm they will be able to find entertainment from Fox Tales, a craft table, face painting as well as having the chance to meet their favourite princesses and superheroes.

Charities specialising in bereavement support for children and their families, Crocus and Archie Foundation, will also be there on the day.

The organisers, manager at Dingwall-based D Gunn Funeral Directors, Jim Murray and his partner Fiona Campbell, said they are delighted for the offer made by Ross County to open their doors for the event.

“Myself and Jim are both Ross County fans and we attended a volunteers day,” said Fiona.

“For the whole day we couldn’t stop thinking that it would have made a prefect venue to host a fun day. We got in touch with Duncan Chislholm to ask if it was possible and he immediately agreed and gave us a date.

“We are so grateful for their hospitality, it’s absolutely fantastic and a great opportunity to be close to the community. We hope that this will encourage more boys to come along this time!”

The initiative, which is back after two popular events held in Dingwall and in Inverness, was conceived in memory of Jim’s c colleague and friend Stacey Hull, who sadly passed last year, leaving behind an eight-year-old son and three-week-old baby.

Talking about the event, Ross County’ business development manager Duncan Chisholm said: “We were approached by Fiona about the possibility to hire the space for the event, and we thought it would be even better to host them on a game day to get the full Ross County atmosphere on match day.

“It’s such a great cause, we are delighted to be able to support them and continue to do our part for the local community.”
