POLICE are investigating after a 48-year-old man was found dead in a house in Alness.

Officers were alerted after being told of concern for the occupant of the property in Westford on Tuesday morning this week and required the assistance of the fire service to gain access.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of concern for a man in Alness shortly before 11am on Tuesday, 3 January.

“Emergency services subsequently attended a property at Westford in the town and the body of a 48-year-old man was found.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
