Mark Beaumont is currently attempting to break the NC500 cycle record.

In 2019, Mark Beaumont told us how the emergence of the NC500 has transformed the far north from an 'unknown wilderness' for biking enthusiasts "to an absolute bucket-list challenge".

Mr Beaumont said: "It truly is the most breathtaking route in the UK."
