There was a good turnout and no shortage of community spirit in Garve for the switch-on event.
There was a good turnout and no shortage of community spirit in Garve for the switch-on event.

A SMALL Ross-shire community brought a warm festive glow to a cold day with a Christmas light switch-on attended by more than 50 people.

Garve Public Hall was the focus of activities in the village on Saturday.

It later posted: "It was a great night with more than fifty turning up for the Christmas lights switch on. The weather was kind and we had no snow. The raffle raised £230.

"A big thank you for the sellers and you the buyers. Thanks for all the helpers on the night that makes the event run so well."

Well-wishers were quick to share praise for the effort: "Wonderful display for a wee village, well done all and a super evening," wrote one.
