PICTURES: Gairloch and Wester Ross thrown into focus in calendar

HOUSEHOLDS across Wester Ross and far beyond will be making dates throughout the course of 2022 with a very popular, locally produced calendar which highlights the area’s rich heritage.

Calendars produced by award-winning Gairloch Museum have been popular gifts for years, going down well in local homes and offices and sent around the world to far-flung exiles with whose roots are in Wester Ross.

Among the images selected for next year’s calendar are a Bank of Scotland van, with Donnie Fraser, Calum Buchanan, Hugh Munro, Calum Macdonald, and Neil Mackay.

The March image shows the wedding of Catherine (Katie) Urquhart and Harry Michie at Gairloch Hotel 1936.

Also featured is Strath village with houses and post office in the 1930s.

September’s image is titled “Catch of brown trout from Fionn Loch” and was taken on September 29, 1963. An Inverasdale School Group from 1957malso features along with shots of a football reunion the first ambulance in Gairloch.
