THEY say that many hands make light work and that proved to be the case with a concerted effort to weed out some unwanted vegetation on the streets and public areas of an Easter Ross town this week.

May 31 was declared Tidy Tain Tuesday, a rallying call to action for those who take great pride in the appearance of the royal burgh.

Tain Task Force, which is behind numerous community minded efforts, said ahead of the day: “There are lots of weeds appearing along joins between buildings and the pavements all around Tain.

“So please come out and remove any weeds at the edge of your house or business. It only takes five minutes with a trowel or hoe.”

David McAllister of Tain Task Force said afterwards: “Lots of people spoke to us when we were working and comments were very complimentary. We are definitely thinking about another tidy, perhaps in mid-July, but no date set yet.”

Tain Museum and The Guildry Trust are organising a weed and clean-up in the grounds of The Collegiate Church, Tain’s historic church, on Monday, June 20 at 10am.
