ONE man was taken to hospital after an accident apparently involving a fallen tree on a Ross-shire route yesterday.

Drone images show a fallen tree straddling the major Ross-shire trunk road that was closed after a one-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon.

Police were made aware of the crash on the A835 near Garve shortly after 1.45pm yesterday.

The road was initially shut in both directions in the wake of the crash.

This meant drivers faced lengthy diversions via the west coast, Glen Shiel and the Great Glen, or up via Elphin, Bonar Bridge and the Struie road.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a crash involving one vehicle on the A835 near Garve shortly after 1.45pm on Thursday, September 14.

“One man was taken to hospital for treatment.

“Recovery was arranged and enquiries are ongoing.”

Police refused to give details of the vehicle involved or to confirm reports of a fallen tree.

However drone images show a tree which appears to have hit a campervan-type vehicle. The vehicle appears from the image to have a smashed windscreen.

The image shows an ambulance crew on the scene and bystanders from vehicles held up by the incident.
