TWO Highland charities are each £12,500 better off thanks to a fundraising event inspired by a Muir of Ord woman.

Gary Tuach, with family and close friends, organised the Celebrating Amy event in memory of his late wife.

The proceeds were split between Highland Hospice and Mikeysline. A spokesman for the latter mental health charity said: "It was a great night and a huge amount of money was raised for local causes including Mikeysline and the Highland Hospice.

"These funds will go towards maintaining our text-based support service, our face to face support in Hives across the Highlands, and our partnerships with local schools to promote mental health education with our young people.

A spokesperson for Highland Hospice said: "We would like to once again thank Gary and the ‘Celebrating Amy’ organising committee for choosing us to benefit from such a wonderful event."
