Dornoch Pipe Band stalwart Charlie Ross honoured at presentation as group prepares for centenary celebrations
A HIGHLAND pipe band tuning up for centenary celebrations in a couple of years has honoured its oldest serving piper at a special presentation event.
Dornoch Pipe Band – which draws many of its members from the Easter Ross area – presented Charlie Ross with a bottle of malt whisky and a quaich inscribed with 'Thank you for your Loyal Service’.
The presentation was made by Pipe Major Willie Fraser.
Also present was the band's youngest drummer who attended a couple of parades this year at the age of eight.
The piper on the battlements was Murdo Macleod from Portmahomack. A number of the band's young drummers come from the Invergordon area.

Dornoch Pipe Band President Antony Hope said: "Pipers and drummers travel far and wide to attend the Saturday evening parades. The young Scottish traditional dancers where from Mary Watt School of Dancing in Tain.
"We have also had record numbers of locals and tourists turning out each Saturday night to support/watch the pipe band. It is possibly one of our most successful seasons to date. We are looking forward to our centenary celebrations in 2026, which we are already planning, with a possible book and CD of our music."
