A REPORT of a dinghy adrift on a beach near Plockton last night triggered a Ross-shire lifeboat launch.

The Kyle RNLI crew launched at 9.47pm after the UK Coastguard received reports of a dinghy adrift off Dubhaird beach in the Plockton area.

The lifeboat arrived on scene within 10 minutes and crew made sure that there was no-one on board the 10-ft dinghy before towing it ashore and handing it over to the local Coastguard unit from Kyle.
