Funeral details revealed for popular Highland councillor Alasdair Rhind following shock death in Inverness

The funeral for a popular Highland councillor who passed away suddenly this week will take place next Friday, it has been announced.

Cllr Alasdair Rhind, who represented the Tain and Easter Ross ward and was also chairman of the Tain Gala Association, passed away at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness in the early hours of Thursday morning after suddenly taking ill on Wednesday. He was 65.

His sudden death shocked family, friends, colleagues and the community, with tributes flooding in from across the region in the hours and days since his passing.

Details of his funeral service have now been released via the funeral directors company which Cllr Rhind owned in Tain.

His funeral will take place in Tain Parish Church on Friday, April 12 at 12.30pm, before moving on to Kilmuir Easter Cemetery.

The full funeral notice, published on the Alasdair Rhind Funeral Directors funeral notices website, reads: “Suddenly in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness on Thursday, April 4, Alasdair Rhind, (Funeral Director, Highland Councillor, Chairman of Tain Gala Association, a true advocate for Tain), beloved husband of Mandy, a much loved father of Alison, Jack and Gregor, a dearly loved father-in-law of Stevie and Katy, a loving granda of Cohen, Archie, Amelia and Theo, a dear twin brother of Sutherland, son-in-law, brother-in-law and loved by all the extended family and friends.

“Will be sorely missed by all his friends, work colleague’s and associates.

“Funeral service will be held in Tain Parish Church, on Friday, April 12 at 12.30 pm. Thereafter to Kilmuir Easter Cemetery. All friends respectfully invited.

“Family flowers only please but donations if so desired may be given at the service for The Scottish Burned Children Club, Tain Gala Association and Tain Task Force or send to Alasdair Rhind, Funeral Directors, Sutherland House, Bank Street, Tain or donate by bacs to R.B.S. s/c/ 83-27-35, a/c no 00254580 ref T/ L Alasdair.
