A BLACK Isle community hit by a recent devastating blaze is being targeted in a local drive to recruit retained firefighters.

Four properties in Fortrose were affected by a fire in the Deans Road area of the town last Sunday.

Flagging a recruitment drive, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "Can you help? We’re recruiting in Fortrose.

"The devastating incident on Sunday, July 4 has highlighted the incredible commitment that people provide to keeping their community safe by being a retained firefighter.

"We need to hear from more local people who want to do the same to ensure Fortrose always has the required fire cover.

"Come to our info event and find out more about how you can make your community safer."

It will take place at Fortrose Community Fire Station on Tuesday, July 13 between 7.30pm and 9pm.

Covid distancing restrictions will apply.
